I've got a mig welder, a junk 1986 7-5/8" TA rear end and a good 1976 8-1/2" rear end in my basement. Has anyone ever just taken the suspension mounting brackets off a third gen with a grinder or high speed cutting wheel and welded them to a second gen? Does anyone produce these mounting brackets independently of the rear end?

i've done it, it isn't that hard to move or relocate mounting brackets. never done it with a thirdgen. the torque arm would require some extra brackets, but notihng a good fabricator couldn't do.
