NEED HELP WANT TO SWAP TRANS
Hey guys i just got a trans for free from an 85 mustang, it is a borgwarner t-5. I have a few questions.
1 Should i make the clutch hydraulic or cable?
2 Do i need to put a pilot bearing in the crank and will the input shaft from a ford fit into the crank of a chevy.
3 What other parts do i need and do you suggest i get them from the junkyard i.e. bellhousing fly wheel and pedal assembly and shifter.
4 Also do i have to do any computer work.
5 Anything else i might have left out can you tell me about.
Thanks in advance the car currently has a 700r4.

What you need to do is trade that thing for one from a GM F-body. There is no bell housing you can buy that will work. What you have has no provision for the torque arm. It mounts the shifter in a different spot. In short, it will not fit your car at all. It will most likely cost more to install that "free" transmission than it will to buy all the right stuff, and it certainly won't be as neat a job when you're done, and there's no telling how long it will take to complete a swap like that.
You need a flywheel, clutch assembly, pilot bearing, shifter, console top plate, pedal assembly, clutch hydraulics, and torque arm bracket to complete the swapover.
