something went KA-put!!!
last knight i was doing some test ans tune on some desolate rd and after as couple of passes my car loss 3rd and 4th or maybe all of them , see here the deal i have a 7004 4 with about 41k on it a transgo shift kit, deep pan with cooling tubes, and a mega cooler mt'd infront of a cooling fan , however i went cheap and had a local hoel inthe wall place modify a stock converter for me, over time i started out with a 2500 stall when you foot brake it starts to grab alittle around 1600 but if you cruising around it'll flash to like 2500 then it made its way to 3200 just 2 days ago, this is a stock big converter with the lock up removed, i just recieved my vigalante friday and was waiting to put it in. so any ways , i make acouple off runs every time it barks 3rd and the motor revs fines with no sign of slippage then i go to do it again and then like that it gone , 1st and 2nd are there i think i idled home after that, all the gears are there as far as reverse and N redv freely to about 4K and then pop into gr, ...has any body had this happrn b4? can a tranny with only 41K do that i religously chaged the fluid in it and, another piece of info is that when ever it would reach its stall the car would shudder. like taking off in 3rd with a stick pls help !!!!!!

Second, do you by any chance rev this engine over @5500 on a regular basis? Do you have the Hi Rev Release Springs from the TransGo kit installed? Do you have the TransGo Hi Rev Pump Ring Kit installed?
On top of this you have to make sure that the bushing in the back of the pump stator isn't worn, allowing the Input Drum to move off center, hitting the inside of the Stator and wiping out the sealing ring surfaces creating a leak.
Also, when this is apart have the 4L60E 3-4 pack installed or modify that with the use of stock steels and extra clutches depending on power. While there, have the 4L60E Sprag Assy. installed too.
Oh, yea, toss the cooler along with the converter so you don't contaminate the new tranny with leftovers. Get a TruCool and bypass the radiator.

/91 TA daily driver LB9 A4 2.73 Yes, toss the pan. You MUST keep the filter covered at all times with oil and this means that the filter must be very close to the bottom of the pan. Those pans don't allow this. When you have the tranny done, go with the 4L60E 3/4 pack along with the Hi Rev Release Sprigs that came with the TransGo Kit. Install the Hi Rev Pump Ring Kit too. You can get a B&M super cooler as it IS the TruCool, just under their name.

i dont even know if my tranny is gone i was able to drive home with it in "d" i was told that if the car would shudder every time it came up into the stall that more than likely my converter was going out..? i'm like ..ok,
thing is ,is that i dont wanna stick an 800$ dollar P/I converter in a blown tranny, i might just go with reliablity and swap it for TH350 OR 400..i dunno i have and extra 700 that also needs a rebuild and i allready have a TCI master rebuild kit in the garge and clutch spring compressor and all , even a video on how to do it, i've never messed with trannys before, other than shift kits... so i'm not optimistic,
