83 700r4 to a 87 700r4
83 700r4 to a 87 700r4
i have an 83 transam and want to switch it out to another "mine died" so i found an 87 700r4 for cheep will it bolt right up will i have to change anything ???

The externals are the same but the internals from a 87 are a lot better than the ones in 83

You may want to check to see what Servo your original had and what is in your new one. The last numbers cast into the piston should be 553, DON'T use 554 and if you had 093, use that. Take a look at the Governor too. In fact, rather than explain things, just swap your in. This will keep you roughly in the ballpark on your WOT shift points, just in case it is different.
