What drive/driven gears for T5 & 3.42 gears?

T5 is going into the IROC soon. Will my drive/driven gears from my 700R4 work? If not, what gears do I need? Thanks.

No, the 700R4 and T5 use different gears. Stock for a 3.42 rear end and stock 245/50-16" tires is a 7 tooth purple drive gear and a white 19 tooth driven gear.

Is the 7 tooth purple or blue? In reading the archives, I've seen you say both.

AFAIK, there's only two drive gears for the T5, the 9 tooth RED and the 7 tooth purple/blue.

Its like a cross between purple and blue.

The 20 tooth gear would work with a 3.42/3.45 rear end if you have taller tires. I have a 7/20 combo in mine with 3.70 gears and 255/50-16" tires. But like I said, stock for 3.42/3.45 is 7 and 19.

I'm running 255s on the car, but as soon as I get new tires I'm going back to the right size. These 255s have too much sidewall and look fairly stupid. Anyway, thanks for the info. I'll have to pull the VSS out and peek in there.

I'am running the 7/19 tooth combo on my car right now. My rear gear ratio is 3.27 and my tires are the stock 245/50, my speedo couldn't be more bang on then it is now, I also used a GPS unit to clock my speed and I was only 1 km/h fast.

Now from what people tell me and from a GM chart I saw awile back the stock combo for 3.42/3.45 ratio is 7/20 tooth.

My info says 7/18 for a 3.23/3.27 and a T5. My car came with 3.42's, and the speedo gears were 7 and 19.

I'am pritty sure GM never made a electric speedo 18 tooth driven gear for are cars but maybe the cable guys have it I dont know. Just try both and see witch one works for you.

From my info, which could be incomplete, I have:

Drive gears: 6T, 7T, 8T, 9T
Driven gears: 19T, 20T, 21T, 22T

For the 3.27 gearing with 245 tires, the actual driven gear is 17.99, or 18. But the 7/19 combo would give better breathing room for error, as stated before with the GPS.
