Since hp is hopefully approaching 800 soon, Ford 9" is the plan.
What are the most reasonable places to look for it?
Car is basically race only, so spool is very much an option.

I swapped out my 10 bolt (after I sheared 4-5 teeth off of the ring gear) and put a 9 inch in. I put a Moser engineering rear end in.Strange makes good rear ends too.I would put a spool in it like you said if you just plan on racing it.I have a Detroit locker in mine ,but I am taking it out and putting a spool in it this winter.You can contact Strange by phone 1-847-663-1701 or Moser at 1-219-726-6689.Hope this helps.

Axle/Gears: Ford 9"/31 spline spool/4.86
A "bolt-in" 9" for a third gen can be found at places like Moser, Currie, Strange etc. Typical price for a complete diff is around $2000. You can buy just the housing and axles for less than $1000 and put in your own third member if you want.
