TH350 overdrive kit or 700r4 rebuilt?

hi, im going to start building a 3rd gen camaro and was just wondering if i could get some transmission info. I am planning on puttin a 383 stroker enigne and also probably a 100shot of nos. this car is going to be streat legal but able to run high to mid 12's on the track. And so i was wondering about the transmission. i heard that the 700r4 rebuilt by bowtiedrives is good enought to take that kinda of beating. but then i also heard that the TH350 with an overdrive kit would be even better.. so im just lookin for some input on this. so any information you have would be helpful. thanks.

You can build it yourself for a lot less than a BTO transmission, and make it stronger and better unit. Go with a 1988 and up transmission to start with. I have plenty of rebuild kits to choose from. Go to https://www.700r4l60e.com/store/home.php?cat=19 Dana

ya true, but i also i can get a th350 for alot less than that and the overdrive kits are cheaper. but what im wondering is would it be better or even equal to a performance rebuilt 700r4 from bto?

If you are going to go with a rebuilt transmission, then the 700R4 would be the better way to go.

A th350 with an add-on overdrive would not fit under the car for crap, especially with the tq arm. Assuming you mean a gear-vendors type unit, it will not be cheaper then a decently prepped 700r4, and will not have as much OD, nor a lock-up converter(unless you utilize a 350c, in which case parts and converter availability become more scarce).

If you don't think you can tackle it yourself, look at buying a complete 4l60(700R4) from Pro Built, PATC, or Performabuilt. Those three all have good reputations with the 4l60 based transmissions.
