Re: LSD/spool question
No. A mini spool will only fit in an open diff. The carrier body is designed differently for a posi and the mini spool will not fit inside it.
The 7.5" mini spools are designed for dirt track racing where tire slip is common. They are not designed for drag racing or street use especially with your 26 spline axles.

Re: LSD/spool question
thanks man,i figure it wouldnt work
i mean i just dont see it worth it to rebuild this reaend, since they seem to never really last anyways.....so i was thinking bout going the spool route on a 4th gen v6 or something.

Re: LSD/spool question
You have an Auburn LSD, which is junk in my opinion. When they wear out they can not be rebuilt. You will have to clean out all of the metal sludge in the housing when you replace it. I recommend a new Eaton Posi to replace the Auburn. If it ever wears out (and it probably won't) you can rebuild it for about $110. Your '89 will probably have 26 spline axles. The Eaton is $445 plus the bearings and shims, which are $45. It's a lot of money, but you wil be spinning both wheels again. A spool is dangerous on the street and should only be used off road.
