ten bolt rear end re-build
Ok guy's like i said this is all really new to me so forgive me for any mistakes. A friend is helping me who is a John Deer tech so im not doing it all alone. When Changing all the bearings in the rear end are there any torque settings that i need when putting back it together. It's a ten bolt lsd. Manythanks.
Re: ten bolt rear end re-build
The pinion bearing preload needs to be set to about 17 to 20 inch pounds. This is important if you want the bearings to last. The pinion nut will require around 300 foot pounds of torque to start crushing the spacer. The amount of torque on the nut is not important, but the bearing preload is very important. The bearing cap bolts torque to 60 foot pounds and the ring gear bolts torque to 65 foot pounds. The ring gear bolts have left hand threads, so don't turn them the wrong way.
