transmission kickdown

we have an 86 camaro that we had a 2.8 in it
we swapped in a carberated 350 with no electronics but hei
the problen is whenever you let off the gas to slow down or come to a stop the transmission act as though it is still in gear and lurches

What transmission do you have in it now? If a TH700R4 or TH350C, did you hook up the lockup function in some fashion or another?

Idles smooth @ 700 RPM in D. Best 15.02/95.06 @ 5800' Bandimere (corrected 13.93/102.4 @ sea level).

its 700r4 and thereis no kickdown hooked up at all

oops i meand lock up hooked up at all
i was really just wondering if anyone has ever heard of a lock upo torque con. staying locked up and if they did what were the symptoms

It can stay locked but would disengage as soon as you dropped out of 2nd gear. You could try manually downshifting out of second and see if it does it still. does it while in 1st. If not then that cuold be the problem.

thats exactly what it does as it downshifts to first from second or to second from third
or od to third
