type of fluid for new tremec t56 aftermarket?

Car: 1991 Camaro Z28
Transmission: T56
The T56 requires Dexron III ATF fluid. If you can spend the extra money, go with GM Synchromesh fluid (from the dealer) or some synthetic Dexron III fluid like Mobil 1 or K&W.
Most of the Mustang Race shops use Redline MTL in place of ATF.
I use Redline 0/20 weight synthetic motor oil in my T5
ATF is just a highly refined hydraulic fluid that is the eqivalent of straight 20 weight(viscosity)
edited to add that Royal Purple 11 is used in a friends 6 spd Vette with good results
