SLP Posi

I just found out that SLP sells posi units for $99! Yeah! I have the 28-spline 10-bolt in my car but it is a 2-series carrier ( 2.73 gear ), I'm gonna get a set of 3.42s out of a junkyard v6 car. I've heard they will work with my diff if I have a spacer, will the posi work too? If not, do I have to take the entire v6 rear end to make this work? Where can I get the spacer?

Stock 3.42's are a 3 series gear and will bolt up to the SLP posi with nothing else needed. The 3 series carrier IS the SLP posi unit. This setup will then fit directly into your rear with your 28 spline axles. No spacer needed because the SLP carrier is for 3 series and the 3.42's you are getting are 3 series.

They were actually running these as their "monthly special" for $75 a while back! the first one I paid full price for (Still a steal) and when i saw they were even LESS, i picked up another one for my S-10

No spacers or other exotic things needed, if you use 3.42 gears.

Sweet! Thanks guys, I've never swapped gears before and wasn't sure I when people said carrier they meant the case or the thing ( I said thing, see my ignorance ) the ring gear bolts to. So all I need to get from the junkyard is the ring and pinion?

MAKE SURE YOUR CARS ARE THE LATE 28 SPLINE AND NOT THE EARLIER 26 SPLINE OR YOU'LL BE OUTTA LUCK. 28 = 87-LATER? S-10S ARE A GOOD SOURCE OF POSI'S AND 3.73'S AND SOMETIMES 4.10'S

It has been months since I saw them for $75. That is what I paid for mine almost 6 months ago. LOVE IT. I run the 3.42 gears too MUCH BETTER than 2.73. I bought new gears because its a LOT of trouble to replace them and didn't want to trust USED gears in there.
