How to replace Spider Gears (7.5" 10 Bolt)
Hey TG.org OSS here;
I blew my rear end in my '83 Z28 last month, so I bought a set of gears today. Unfortionatly, I have no idea ho to get the spider gears inside the carrier. I have the axles out already. She's a limited slip 3.42. I noticed the 4 springs and the spring 'housing' all over the place, broken too...Once I get the spider gears back in, will I need the springs? If I dont use the springs (housing is snapped) would the rear end act like an open diff? Thanks in advance. Hopefully someone can help in the next hour or so! Im outside working now hah...

If you have springs then you probably have an Auburn. If you didn't get parts for an Auburn then you wasted your money. If the axle gears have cones made on them then you probably got Auburn parts. If they have no cones then they will not work. For the most part the Auburn isn't rebuildable. Most of the time you just have to replace it. It is important to know which differential you have. Find out which one you have and post again.

And if you have the power and traction to break that, then it's time for a 12 bolt, or Ford 9-inch, or some stronger rear end anyway, or you'll be breaking stuff again, soon.
