My orginal rear is a 3.73 open drum rear that recently broke.. I have an oppertunity to buy a 3.73 posi disc rear. I dont care if i have rear disc or drum in the rear. Id rather keep the drum set up so i dont have to hassel with buying more parts and such. I want to just swap the rear and enjoy my bird....

My question is, can I just swap my drum set up on the new disc rear? Do the axle tubes have the same mounting holes for drum and disc? I just did this on my 2nd gen with no issues at all. except I went from drum to disc.. I need to know this within a day or two so i dont miss out on this rear...

the brake mountings are different,so brakes won't
interchange. Could use gears/diff from the good rear
to fix the bad one if the housing is good(bearings havn't
"spun" in the housing etc)

 

That sucks.... Id rather not get into swapping gears and setting them.. I never did it before and dont have the time or $$ to play with it.. I just want to bolt and go... Its been since June I thikn since u drove my '84..
