Ive never had a short throw before, but what can they really hurt? I mean as long as its not plastic, it should do for a few months until i can get the pro right? Thanks

Re: T56 short throw shifter
There's a couple different schools of thought on shifters. Factory shifters are usually intended to be more comfortable then anything else. By making the shifter lever shorter, the distance between shifts is reduced, resulting in FASTER shifts. But usually it's less comfortable and you lose leverage in the process. Just changing the lever usually has little real effect, other then putting the **** lower in the console.
Aftermarket shifters change the location of the pivot point, along with a slightly shorter handle to make for shorter shifts. Most also add positive stops so you don't end up damaging the transmission by over shifting.
If you're limited on funds, just buy a good quality shifter lever and save your money for an aftermarket shifter at a later date. The far east cheapo products off of Ebay are one step above burning your money.
