help with coasting downshifts.
I just put a 383 in my car and rebuilt the 700r4 with a TCI kit. The trans shifts great when accelerating from a stop (firm, crisp, and timed right). However, when coasting from highway speed (4th gear, TC lockup) to 40-30 mph the car stays in 4th and won't downshift till below 30 mph. This causes the car to bog. When accelerating it doesn't shift into 4th till about 55-60 mph (which is good). The car did this same thing before the trans rebuild too. Is there a way to fix this? Currently I have 2.73 gears but in a couple weeks I will have 3.42 gears.
Thanks

a sticky governor could have easily been overlooked during the rebuild.

Tv cable is adjusted correctly. I thought the governor only controlled WOT shifts. The trans up shifts great. I wonder if it has something to do with the 2.73 gears in the rear end?

the gear ratio shouldn't matter. you could have a t.v cable or linkage problem or manual linkage problem, checkball missing, wrong or mispositioned valve body/separator plate & gasket.
