The guy i bought the tranny from already had the painless kit installed but did not come with the external vacuum switch. Do I still have to pull the tranny pan and do all the wiring stuff over or should I just buy a kit and plug in the harness and finish?

If your sure it's been done correctly, then no - just connect the external wiring and new vac switch as needed. But that's the question - was it done and done correctly?

 

alright looks like ill be pulling the cover and taking a look.

 

As of right now i dont have the cash to buy a new painless unit but is it possible to hook up a manual converter lock? I just dont want to burn up this tranny on my way to school running on the highway.

Very possible to wire up a manual converter lock switch but I'm not sure how.

You can also wire up the vacuum switch, along with a relay, without changing out any parts inside of the auto transmission. I did this with my 700r4 setup I used to have:
