i have a 1988 firebird with a 2.8 v6 and a t5 that was just rebuilt, i am going to put a th400 in it and i need to know if it will work without as much as a speedo cable hooked up to it? also what is the length driveshaft i need? i have a stock aluminum third gen one with all the right ujoints for a th400 yoke and everything but its a tad to short, i want to have it lengthened but how long do i need it to be?
now about the t5, i was thinking about keeping it and putting a v8 in front of it but idk how well it would hold up, what do you guys think? i know its weaker than a v8 one but whats the weakest link in a v6 t5 tranny? is it as simple as swapping out the weak part or not? and i know if i use the t5 i need bellhousing and a flywheel and clutch and stuff from an s10

You want to put a th400 behind a 2.8 and a v6 t5 behind a v8? The bellhousings are different.
I don't think any shop will lengthen a driveshaft. Just shorten. It makes them weaker, especially an aluminum one.

no i want to put a v8 in my camaro, its currently a 2.8 with a t5, i was toying around with the idea of putting the t5 behind a v8 and im more than likely going with a th400 for my camaro with a 350
