I have a 72 firebird with no motor/trans. Since i can't find a pontiac 350/400/455, I was thinking about using a 454 and a TH400 trans. The trans is out of a 89 2WD suburban. My question is, what do i need to make the 454 and trans drop in to get the car moving?

Ask on Nasty Z28 if the improved late 70's SBC mounts fit your 72 front cradle. Mount design improved sometime in the mid '70s.

I agree with it being the the wrong engine for the car. I want to find a 400 since it is a formula 400 car. Thanks for the comments guys.

I would highly recommend Nasty Z28 like others said for your 2nd gen. Good luck.
