How to keep torque converter.

Hi i had a question..im going from fi to carb and have read u need the ecm to keep the lock up the torque converter..so i kept my ecm but now how do i keep my torque converter...like it there a certain wire i gotta connect to the ecm or just leave everything plugged into the ecm..sorry if i sound confusing but i didnt know how to write..in simple words i kept my ecm just for the torque converter how do i know if it will work when everything is in?
