why???

why is it i cant get a straight and simple answer on this matter?
i have recently swaped my 92 rs from a 305 tbi to a 383 stroker with carb now ive got everything running great(why dident gm do this) but any way all the reading and qustions ive gone through no one can answer 1 of my questions.ok here it goes again.

why will my fourth gear lock up not work with a carbed set up if im leaving my ecm in place does somthing else control this operation that mabey get's removed when swaping to carb?

now every thing i dident use like wiring was just pulled aside and taped off
i do however have the tci fourth gear lockup kit on my work bench but would rather not use it if i dont have to i can return it and buy somthing else for the ride like roller rockers.(or gas) lol

but realy am i missing somthing here if ecm is still in place shouldent it still work?

sombody set me strait on this matter please! i dont care how you get a hold of me but please do
m_vanblarcom@yahoo.com ill even give my home # if someone would rather go over this in person!!!!!

Re: why???

It may just be that no one currently reading the boards has done this - they may all be like myself and just installed an aftermarket TC lockup.

Have you tried it to see if it locks with the stock connectors on the tranny?

There is a possible option using stock stuff and not taking tranny pan off, altough not an "automatic" one. There are two pins in the ALDL connector under the driver dash that can be connected together to lock the TC. I would imagine that if the ECM is in place and the stock connector attached to the tranny that these two wires from the ALDL could be connected with a simple switch, then you could manually lock the TC by flipping the switch. But YOU"D have to lock and unlock as needed rather than the ECM automatically doing it for you.

I have the TCI kit, and I didn't like the locking/unlocking it did with the vacuum switch, and so now I just lock and unlock manually with a switch to the TCI kit. I wired it into my Cruise Control on/off switch on the turn signal stalk, since I yanked all the cruise control stuff out anyway - that way I didn't have to have some toggle switch mounted into my nice dash or console and messing with the stock interior look.

Not much help with your question directly I know - but I am curious how it all works out for ya.
