HELP! TROUBLE GETTING INTO GEAR!
HELP! TROUBLE GETTING INTO GEAR!
Ok, so I did my first auto to manual swap. All new parts except the trans itself and I cheaped out on a used stock shifter off ebay. Ive always had problems getting it into first but could and when it would finally go into gear it would be fine and all other gears were ok, but after about 100 shifts, no more.
Now its like a wall in front of first and all gears...if you push it real hard it will sorta squeeze into place but the shifter has tons of slop.
I thought it was the slave cylinder but replaced and bleed it and still having the same problem. I can get it into gear but its real hard, and ive shifted dump trucks that are easier to get into gear.
The guy at summit racing said it could definitely be the shifter. has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks

Re: HELP! TROUBLE GETTING INTO GEAR!
sounds like a shifter. does it shift the same when the car Is off? either way it's a wise investment. I bought the pro 5.0 for my swap. the stock one was really sloppy getting into gear but the pro is very crisp and smooth. I got mine from hawks
Re: HELP! TROUBLE GETTING INTO GEAR!
actually it wasnt the shifter since when the car was off went into gear fine. I inspected the clutch pedal and took off a rubber bump stop. The clutch went further to the floor but then engaged.
It didnt make sence why it would allow the clutch to engage only when compressed completely to the floor.
So it looks like since its a swap that possibly I didnt put the piston rod assembly in the right place ? IT seems that it should be a inch higher...but if it goes any higher it will hit the power brake booster.
So it seems i am not getting the full travel off the clutch....the piston assembly lines up with the clutch pedal supports so i thought it was close
Man I am really lost as of what to do.......
