Converter Install Help Needed...

I got a Trans Specialties 12" Big Shot 2000-2400rpm stall converter for my 700. I installed it exactly how they said, but it doesnt seem right to me, there is more "wiggle" play then I remember with the stock one, also you can clearly see on the old converter on the snout that goes into the pump had about a 1/4" from the face of the converter to where it went into the pump housing, when I got under the car and looked the new one has about 1/2-3/4 of an inch. I kept rotating it clockwise applying pressure and it wouldnt go in anymore. I've never done one of these before so I dont know to much on how these go in, when I put the motor in and get everything bolted back together does it all just "fall into place"? Thanks in advance for any help.

James

did you get the right spline count ? There are two different coverters, 27 and a 30 spline.

Yes, it is 30 spline, it is deffinatly engaging the splines, I'm just not sure if its in the pump or not, when I get under the car the snout on the converter is in the pump housing but I'm not sure if it is engaged into the pump.

usually if it's not engaged right you won't be able to bolt the tranny to the engine correctly. You could also try and find the shaft length and see if it's longer than the stock one, you really care about the overall width from the flexplate mounting to the end of the pump shaft - that should be the same length no matter what.
