What manual transmissions fit in 83 camaro
Hey guys,
I purchased a camaro last year. I was driving it for a while and my transmission is gone. My father in law owns a salvage yard but all the systems say the only tranny's that work are the 3rd gen camaro and firebird.
I have been looking for about 4 weeks for a transmission but none available close by. What other manual transmissions would fit in our cars? I and my family have extensive fabrication experience but any ideas on which would fit easiest?
thanks in advance

you can use a t56 out of the lt1 camaro. it requires some fabrication but if you have experience its not bad

The Super T-10 is a realistic swap. The preferred version, to my mind, was used in the '80 Z28 and the '80-'81 LG4 Trans Am. You'll have issues with mounting the torque arm, and rigging a clutch release mechanism, and there may be an issue with the slip yoke and driveshaft, but if you can get a not-bent driveshaft from the donor cars I listed, you can just get it shortened about 7", and re-balanced, problem solved.
