362 HSR AFR XFI280..What stall?
Ok, wanted to know if anyone had something close to my combo and see what stall are you running.
I have a 350 .060, HSR, AFR 190 ported, XFI280, 3.73's and the 700r4. The car is only driven in weekends and joy rides to work, and will see track every other weekend or so. I was thinking in getting a 3500 but am not sure if that's too high for when I drive it on the street. Am running a trans cooler. Anybody has any opinions??? Right now am on a 2100 stall

I'll be installing a Yank SS4000 soon; current users and Dave at Yank say it is very efficient with good driveability. When I went to the XFI280 from the XFI268, with an Edge 2600 stall, my car lost (slowed down) .2 -.3 seconds, apparently from the converter not matching the new, higher RPM peak-power powerband.

cool, let me know how it runs after the install...I need to rebuild my rear end again first, then the stall, then some drag radials and it should rip!
so, you ran at the track and lost .25 ET? what ET's are you running if you don't mind me ask? and what RPM are you shifting with the stock bottom end!!
now I know TQ converters really make a big difference in power, specially in 60ft times.

Re: 362 HSR AFR XFI280..What stall?
I went from a best of 12.91 / 105.5, after dyno'ing 365hp with the XFI268, to a best of 13.03 105, after dyno'ing 397hp with the XFI280, although the 13.03 was on a hotter day, but I don't think the 2600 stall was letting the motor get up to speed fast enough. Shifting at 6000 ~ 6300, somewhere in there, and yes it is a little scary shifting that high on a stock bottom end.
With the power and the right converter, I think the car should be capable of low 12's, but I haven't seen it, yet.

I thought you would be running somewhere in the mid 12's with the xfi268 and low 12's with the xfi280 may be able to see high 11's with good air and traction. What's holding you back besides the converter? your making tons of power and the car is tuned and everything, are you spinning? what's your sea level elevation? It should be a completely different animal with the 4k stall

Re: 362 HSR AFR XFI280..What stall?
I wasn't sure if I should go with the xfi268 or the xfi280, in the end decided to go with the xfi280, since I will be putting together a higher compression, forged 383 soon and will reuse that cam.
At a 20 roll I catch no traction, once it hits 4000RPM it throws me back in the seat quick and breaks tires loose at second and third gear, so I love it. I still need to get it tuned, higher stall and tires like a said before and it will be stronger. Gotta love the way it sounds too, will get a video ASAP
