700R4 shift issue...
Been driving my stock/unmodified T/A for 4 years trouble free. Yesterday it would not shift from 2nd to third. Im not trans savvy but checked the obvious things like fluid level which is correct and not burned. Checked the TV adjustment as per the instructions provided on these boards (BTW thank you Camaronewbie and 88_import_slayer for your posts) all seems to be normal and correct. Next thing I will do is check the gov.
I guess I could change the filter and fluid and I probably will but im sure the problem goes deeper than that. I only drive approx 3k per year with this car. The previous owner said he had an issue with the trans, pulled over when it happened and had it towed. Turned out the Gov needed to be replaced and all was fine after that. (so he says)
I know there have been many threads on this and I will probably just have my car brought to a professional trans shop but any input or opinions are appreciated.
I will post the outcome of the reapairs eventually, maybe it will help someone with a similar issue.

Re: 700R4 shift issue...
Took the car out for a spin this morning and could not duplicate the problem, seems to be working normally now.
Spoke to a guy who rebuilds transmissions for a living and he told me that the spring in the valve body might have just been sticking and probably is not a major problem with the transmission.
He said to determine if this was the problem do this: next time it happens pull over and shut the car off. Then step on the throttle a couple times which should release the sticking spring. Then start the engine and try driving. If it seems ok then the sticking spring is the problem.
