T5 speedo oil leak

Engine: 305 V/8 4bbl carb
Transmission: T5 WC
Axle/Gears: 3-23 posi with 4 wheel discs
T5 speedo oil leak

hi, my speedo is screwed on tight on my T5 , but it leaks like crazy while the car is parked,,a drop at a time causing a small pudle ...what kind of seal-gasket is in there?.where can i get a replacement?...

After removing the old housing, I'd clean the trans hole a bit. To avoid tearing the internal seal of the new housing, dunk both the speedo gear and housing in trans fluid. Insert gear carefully into the housing, insert housing into trans.

hi , thanks for the info..it leaks right where the speedo screws in..

hi, i checked out raptor transmissions,,,they only deal with automatics..i didn't see any seals for a T5,,are they the same for 700r4 and t5?...that's what it seems.....thanks.

I provided the link. Wait a second and it'll take you to the TH350 housing which is the same as the T-5 and super T10. As you'll note there's an external and internal seal, the latter of which is probably the leaker.

hi , i finally received my new housing and seal..stupid question...i should empty the trans fluid first and then remove the old housing,,,the oil will all come out from the old housing hole?...thanks.

I wouldn't think you'd get more than a trickle--at least I never did. A pan might be handy just in case.
