SPEC Product Question (T56 Swap)

Ok ive been searching but i cant find anything on this, ive heard mixed opinions on what pedals to use with the LT1 t56 swap, ive got a set of LS pedals which im not sure will work, and ive also got my T5 ones that i can modify? but anyway to the point:

I was surfing SPECs site getting info on clutches and such, and i came across one of their products that claim to be a push to pull hydraulic converter, has anyone had any experience with this? If i can keep my factory pedals and hydraulics id like to, less of a headache, from what i can tell this goes in line, but it looks like an LS style throwout bearing to me on their site

Heres the link, its at the bottom of the page im just wondering if anyones ever come across this and/or used one

http://www.specclutch.com/products

for some reason theres no actual page for the product itself, it just says "hydraulic" which is a category cuz they list lines, slaves, converters etc

Re: SPEC Product Question (T56 Swap)

you'd have to call spec and ask that question not sure if that would work in a t56

Re: SPEC Product Question (T56 Swap)

You can get slip-on hyd TOBs from SPEC, McLeod, Howe, etc., they have been around a while. They slip over the guide tube and input shaft just like the LS1 OEM slave. The issues (besides the cost) is the amount of space you have inside the OEM bellhousing depth for a push clutch. You might be able to put together a collection of parts to get something working, but you'll be far better off in the long run staying with an OEM LT1 setup if your means and goals are modest..

Re: SPEC Product Question (T56 Swap)

The early McLeod hyd. TOB which was supposed to fit an LT1 T56 and allow use of a push pressure plate was too thick to fit when using V8 T5 flywheel / disc/pressure plate. Unless a spacer was used.

Using the LT1 bellhousing / T56, there is enough room for a V8 T5 flywheel / disc / pressure plate / TO bearing. If you really wanted to fab a bracket for the slave and sleeve the input tube to accept the larger i.d. T5 TO brg, it's do-able. (My '95 T56 is like that, but for mechanical linkage.) There is a TO brg. with the correct i.d. for the LT1 tube but it's too tall.

However, the LT1 pull clutches work quite well and I wouldn't bother.

Re: SPEC Product Question (T56 Swap)

Yeah I was hoping to find a route besides swapping hydraulics and pedals but I've got it figured out now
