T56 use T5 flywheel?

I just swapped my T5 but have an opportunity to get a T56 - Do I need an LT1 flywheel or will V8 T5 flywheel work?

Thanks!

Re: T56 use T5 flywheel?

The T56 clutch requires a different flywheel from the T5. Since you've got a 1 pc RMS you can use a stock LT1 flywheel, but you can't use your T5 flywheel with the stock T56 setup.

Not much, I mean if its a difference of a $100 flywheel and $100 clutch kit.

How'd you accomplish yours?

The TO brg. sleeve is sleeved (it's now 3rd gen T5 o.d.)
Drilled and tapped a large bolt to take an adjustable ballstud. This is mounted in the front adapter plate of the trans.
Bellhousing and front adapter plate are trimmed to clear the fork.
Geometry wise, the fork is in the right position for 78-88 A/G-body or 82-83 F-body mechanical linkage. So except for the VSS, it's a drop-in for a mech. linkage 3rd gen.
