need help choosing a torque converter
I have a tci 2000 stall in my car right now but I would like to get better gas mileage. So a transmission shop told me a lock up converter with the same stall would give me about 2-3 mpg extra. Which is pretty good since I get 13 around town and 16 on the highway right now. Its just a daily driver with some burnouts here and there. No drag racing. The thing is can somebody recommend me a converter that will last with a fuel efficient stall speed?
My car is stock weight, with 3.42's, and has a 330 hp 380 tq 350 ho crate engine.
Thanks for the help

my 350HO absolutely LOVES its custom 9 inch torque converter from Edge Racing. 3200 stall. nice and tight just rolling around town. Flashes nicely when you need it. Automatic lockup in 4th with my painless TCC kit.
That torque converter was night and day. Really don't get much better mileage than you do now though...
Toss that tci junk no matter what...
whats on top of the motor feeding it is going to make a bigger differance than the converter for MPG.

Re: need help choosing a torque converter
Well the TCI will be removed as soon as I get a good recommendation. I have been tempted to get a performance stall but I need the mileage. Its my daily driver...
Summit recommended a B&M torque master, but then I started reading about how everyone hates B&M converters...I know comp cams makes a good converter but the stall is 2400-2600 and I am not sure if that is too high for max mpg.
I looked at edge converters and they do make nice converters it looks like. I just gave them a call and they said they will give me a call back. So I will see what they say.
I have a 600 cfm edelbrock carburetor on it now which works good. But of course an EZ efi unit is in the works for mid next year to get even better gas mileage.

^I would love an EZ EFI, but I'm uncertain what I'm going to be doing with the 3rd gen in the near future.

Re: need help choosing a torque converter
Every magazine I read lately has an article about EZ efi. Its ridiculous. Soon its going to be in my dreams.. The fact that it learns itself with whatever you throw at it is awesome. But I did call edge today and a man named Arnie said he can custom make one for me. He also said the tolerances are so good that the fuel mileage will be better by 10% than other competitors. Therefore I kept researching on other forums and found nothing but good reviews about edge. So I will be ordering one tomorrow. I'm pretty excited. Thanks for the recommendation
Thats not a bad idea for the z28. A good reasonable alternative to the s60 is building up the 10 bolt. A member on the forum is running over 600 hp at the rear wheels with the stock rear end. He has a blue camaro with bbs looking wheels, grans sport stripes, and a air splitter. Jegs sells a rear end kit with a stud girdle, and a axle tube brace kit. That plus forged axles, c clip eliminators and if that's not enough the pumpkin can be welded to the shafts. That comes for all around $700 bucks and that makes the rear end ridiculously strong. Not to mention it weighs less. So you could do that get a cam kit, and maybe something else like a tubular k member.with the money left over. So many choices its gets to be hard.
LOL
