Just bought the car for my son and am wondering which tranny it has. 1992 T/A GTA with the 305 and 5spd tranny. It has a slight grind going into 2nd so I know I am due for a rebuild but don't know which tranny it is.

if its 5 speed manual, you have a borg warner t-5.

thats a good question. ive never rebuilt one infact i keep a back up used one laying around just incase. maybe ebay?? watch your t-5's though. borg warner made a t-5 for the gm f body just as they did for the ford 5.0 foxbody mustang.

i could be mistaken, but since its a 92, it should be a "world class" t5, slightly stronger version of the standard t5

 

Believe 88+ are the world class t-5's IIRC
