Is a full synthetic ok to use in the 700r4?
I want to use Redline D4 ATF.

Re: Transmission fluid
In my experience, I wouldn't run or recommend synthetic ATF unless the transmission (auto or manual) was always run on synthetic since new or rebuilt. Unlike engine oil or gear oil, the ATF has friction properties the enable the clutches to do their job, less about reducing friction. Changing to a synthetic on a trans that already has wear properties of the fluids it been run with for thousands of miles, will either get you nothing, or create problems where there were none before..

Re: Transmission fluid
Yeah I like sticking to one fluid also. They say the newer synthetics are better for all transmissions, some manufacturers even call thier fluid "lifetime"....not a believer in that at all.

Re: Transmission fluid
well my transmission is only a couple months old. I run b&m original trickshift. love it.
Re: Transmission fluid
Is trickshift based on dexron standards for the 700r4?
I normally run redline when I can and in some cars that require special fluids I mix my own so it shifts fast and good. Sometimes people say oh no dont do that but I find 50/50 mix of redline mt90 and redline mtl was the best for most import transmissions that require gear oil. I pulled drain plug during clutch change after 74000 miles there was no wear particals even with the better shifting of the redline non oem fluid.
