700r4?

will a 700r4 from a 86 chevy caprice with a 305 work in my 89 gmc 4wd pickup with a 305 and has a 700r4(shot)

can anyone help me out

You're taking a step backwards from 1989 to 1986 - mid-year 1987 there were significant improvements in the 700R4's so it's safer to go 1988+.
