new engine/ t56 conversion

Hey everyone,

I'm going to be buying a new motor for my 87 Iroc. On top of this im swapping from a 700r4 to a T56 from a 96 Z28. My current issues are that i cannot find a lt1 style flywheel anyone have one? The other thing is this tranny working with the motor i want ( BluePrint "BP3834ctc1" ). The guy i spoke with at Summit said that it wont work because that engine is externally balanced? Any suggestions or tips on what i need or what i can do about this? Any input would be helpful...

Thanks,

Dennis

Re: new engine/ t56 conversion

Call whoever built the motor, DIRECTLY (not Summit). DO NOT use the words "internal" or "external" when talking about this, as it only creates confusion (specifically, 86-up 305 and 350 are INTERNALLY balanced, using a balance weight mounted "externally" to the flywheel, which DOES NOT make them "externally" balanced). Instead, use the word "stock": either it's "stock" for a 305/350, or it's "stock" for a 400, or it's .... something else. If it's something else, or they can't tell you what it is, get your engine elsewhere.

Re: new engine/ t56 conversion

It takes any 1986-2003 305 or 350, 153 or 168 tooth flywheel.
That includes LT1 and LT4 so you can buy a stock flywheel for a 96 Z28.

Their website:
Notes The included carburetor features a manual choke. Passenger side dipstick. Use a 400 balancer and a 1-piece 350 flexplate/flywheel.

Bill: How can I help you today?
J : Hi Bill. Does the BluePrint BP3834ctc1 engine take a stock balance 86-02 SBC flywheel?
Bill: Yes, it uses an externally balanced for a 1-pc rear main.
