Bought a rear off craigslist told me it was out 84 z28 but stamped on axle is 4pq co62 1 i think its co62 not in front of it right now but sure its stamped 4pq.
its 10 bolt,rear disk
g80 tag
want to install in 88 iroc-z with 9 bolt disc brake
what year is it and gear,is it posi
any other info would be greatfull

Screw the codes.

If anybody has changed anything inside it, odds are, they didn't change the code. Eh?

Since you're a smart guy, smart enough to post here, you already know that THE FIRST THING you are about to do to a "new to you" rear end, is change the fluid. Since you'll already be having the cover off ANYWAY, just LOOK AT THE PARTS and see what gear it is and whether it has a posi in it or not. Of course you can't necessarily tell just by "looking" whether it's wore out or not (probably is), but the "codes" won't tell you that either.
