Clunking in rear when backing
When I put my 88 Iroc convertible in reverse (auto trans) I get a slight clunking sound coming from somewhere in the rear. My thought is that it might be my u-joints?? this clunking sound when backing up is not bad or real loud but I do not to be a stuck somewhere if somethings breaks and someone here has had the same issue... Hoping you guys can help me figure it out?

Re: Clunking in rear when backing
I do not get much of a clunk at all when I push on the brake and place it in reverse gear. Actually it is more when I am backing up...it is a series of light clunks while moving backwards. I do not get any clunks at all when I place it in drive and move forward.
