I need to add a check ball above tv cable bracket. Ball goes above valve body. Can I do this in car with transmission right side up?

The tv valve check ball that is bigger than the rest of the ***** if so the tranny will work fine without it

 

We thought tranny would be fine without but tranny shifts too soft and early. Manual and online say it keeps pressure up for firmer proper shifts. Yes, it is the bigger ball.

 

What was done to the transmission

 

We did a full rebuild. Clutches, steels, all gears, torringtons, bushings, seals, sun shell, lock out solenoid, trans go shift kit and precision 2200 stall converter. Check ball is port E according to haynes manual. On edge of valve body. Im gonna loosen valve body bolts enough to lower valve body down to fish it in. Ill report back with how that goes.

 

just leave it out. Handfull of those made without the ball. it is for the purpose of going to full line pressure if the tv cable breaks or comes disconnected. If your cable is set correctly, the ball is held off place by the pin on the tv linkage anyway, so, unless you have linkage without the pin, (which are also the trans that were made without the big check ball). so if you put one in, it will be full line pressure all the time = late and very firm shifts. Just FYI, learned from personal experience.
