Ok so I have a 1988 Trans Am 5 speed 305 tbi. But the thing is my tranny just went out. Whats a good transmission to upgrade to and what is the one i have now?

 

Your car should have the so-called world class T-5. You can't do better than that with an OE T-5. If your car is stock, I'd throw another one in. You can check after market, but you may find the expense prohibitive.

i just picked up a world class t5 rebuilt for 600 plus 200 shipping.
This is the cheapest option for a replacement because changing the transmission will probably cost double that
