Rear end Advice

I have an 87' with a 383 stroker under the hood, and a 700R4 tranny, its being built for only track purpose, just wondering what a good rear end/gearing would be good to throw in. also any other suggestions for the build would be nice,
thanks guys

Moser 12 bolt.
For drag racing you will probably want to get away from the 700R4. The spread between 1st and 2nd is too wide and you don't need the extra weight and drag from overdrive for drag racing.

Depends on your mechanical ability. A 12 bolt would be great if you're buying it assembled and ready to go, but a 9" would be the way to go if you're doing it yourself. They're reasonably priced here in the classifieds from time to time and can be assembled with basic tools aside from a few you can rent.

Re: Rear end Advice

Here's a thread I made on 9" 3rd member assembly. It might help.

Re: Rear end Advice

The TH350 might be a better option. The TH400 is very heavy and requires more power to turn. There are parts for the TH350 that will make it very strong and it's easier to adapt to the 3rd gen.

If you want information on the Moser 12 bolt let me know.
