Manual transmission to replace auto
I hope someone can help me with this question i want to replace my auto transmission in my 305 HO transam. I have a manual tranny from a v6 just wondering if it will work?? Can anyone let me know?

I don't think a v6 transmission will work on a v8, the bellhousing and input shaft are different among other things.. You can definitely swap an auto to a manual though if you get the transmission out of an 82-97 camaro or firebird with a v8.

Don't do it.
I swapped my V6 manual for a V8 manual, and I had to have a new clutch plate that would match the different input shaft.
You need a T56 from a 4th gen. A stick flywheel, and a shifter. It would be nice to get the hydraulics and clutch pedal too hahahhaha.

The 2.9x first gear T5 or T56 are both very well ratio'd for a 3.73 geared L69. The V6 trans wouldn't be well matched to the engine in comparison.
