700r4 reverse problems....help, help, help
As some of you know, I have been posting problems with my 305tbi to 350tpi swap. Well I have finally got it running some better.
I replaced the detent cable. While I was at it, I drop the pan and installed a transgo jr. kit. First, it is not as simple as stated. I noticed that the separator plate was worn very badly where the check ***** go. I got a new one from transgo. I had to install two plugs in it. I had a time changing the pr valve. I was pretty sure I had the snap ring in the right groove. I adjusted the new detent cable, added fluid and proceeded to crank up the car.
Now, when I go through the gears, fine. But when I put it in reverse it made a grinding noise. I drove the car about 100 ft then went to turn around. The car seemed to slip in reverse. I had to give it more gas for it to move. It seemed like it was binding up. I could shift to park then back to reverse, it moved alright about a foot then started to slip. I immediatey cut it off. It is detent cable adjustment or check ball placement, or the pr valve? I could really use some help to get this thing road worthly. thanks
