LT1 T56 pressure plate question
LT1 T56 pressure plate question
Hi guys!!
I'm in the process of swapping my 700r4 to an T56, and I'm not sure to understand the pull type pressure plate. Because, when I try to place the pressure plate on top of the clutch that is itself on top of the flywheel, I have a 1/8 inch gap between the clutch disk and the pressure plate sides. Is this normal? Do I simply need to torq down the bolts so the pressure plate will squiz???
Please help guys! I don't want to make a mistake!

No time like the present to learn.
Install all the bolts and tighten them till they just touch the pressure plate. Then tighten them in a cross-pattern till the plate compresses to the flywheel.
While you are clamping it down it is a good idea IMHO to wiggle the clutch tool around once in awhile to make sure it is not binding. The clutch disk can get kicked at an angle even with the tool installed.
