need flywheel help
ive bulit a 383 its internal balanced. the machine shop says i need an internal "0" balanced flywheel. i installed a stock LT-1 flywheel because im running a T-56 and the car vibrates. here are my questions:
do i have to stick with LT based flywheels in order to keep the T-56 or can i use any flywheel for an 86-up 1 piece rear main seal?

Re: need flywheel help
Depends on the clutch and clutch release system.
If you already have all the parts to stay LT1 clutch style, pull that flywheel, have a machine shoppe zero balance it (there's a weight on the back side of it) and put it back in.

the first LT-1 flywheel i had, i took it to them and they said wouldnt work because they would have to remove to much weight. im fearing if i pull this flyweel out again he will say the same things.

Re: need flywheel help
This is why a 383 built to take a stock-balance flywheel (that you can buy without having it balanced each time it's replaced) makes a lot of sense. So it would be cool if your engine were balanced like that, but it doesn't sound like it is. So trying to get the flywheel balanced to work w/ it is a lot less work and expense in theory.
You built the 383, so what parts did you use? Did the shop who did the balancing to the rotating assembly (if any) also tell you the flywheel couldn't be matched to it?

Re: need flywheel help
its eagle stroker kit. the shop did balance the internals. and yes he did tell me a stock flywheel wouldnt match it. and that i need a "0" balance, internal, neutral balanced flywheel. so im looking for a flywheel that wont kill my wallet to much. any thoughts?

Re: need flywheel help
Bs on "they cant remove the weight".
They probably dont know how.
Had 12 lbs removed from mine wiht no problem.
As sofa said just take it in and have it balanced, no big deal to do that.
