Can anyone tell me what this is for?

As I'm not sure what this is for, I'm not sure if this is the write section but it down by the shifter and looks like a throttle cable of some sort. Any way I ripped out my old carpet this weekend to replace it and when I took out my center coucil I found this (see pictures). Like i said it looks a throttle cable, the end that was in the center council has a zip tie holding the cable down. It run down along the trans tunnel, on the floor, then up along the fire wall and up behind the dash. I didn't want to tear my dash out to find out were it wen if I didn't have to. Anybody know what this is and why it would be in the center coucil zip tid so the wire couldn't move?

I believe that cable lets you take the shifter out of park after you turn the ignition/key on.

You could leave it there or chase it up to the steering column as far as you can and cut it with side cuts but ,that depends on if you were ever going to make it original with the stock shifter again.
