Re: compatible rear diffs
7.5 and 7.625 are the same rear. All that's different is, the OD of the ring gear was increased slightly in about 87 or so.
Any GM vehicle with that rear is a candidate. That would include A, B, G, & F cars, and S trucks.
Your rear would have come with 26 spline axles, meaning you'll need parts from out of a 89 or older. Might be REAL SMART to actually LOOK AT THE PARTS before buying anything for it though.
Odds of ANY car having a 2 series 26-spline posi are not good. Odds of one of THESE cars (F body) having one are probably 25 times as high as any other body. Virtually ZERO S trucks came with 2.xx or 3.08 gears, and virtually ZERO sedans came with posi. You can find em all the time on the classifieds here as forward-thinking people ordinarily pull that garbage out and throw it away, prolly pick one up REAL cheeeeeeeeeep.
Not sure why it would be a good idea to DELIBERATELY keep the 2 series setup and weenie axles, anyway. Might be wise to re-think that plan.
