T5 help/confusion
I've looked through the FAQ on the T5 and didnt find what I was looking for so I'm going to ask it in a post.
I was wondering if I could get the tremec T5 out of a mustang or a 4th gen v6 f body, and use the bellhousing off from my Borg Warner T5 I got with my car.
I do not have the original T5, only the bellhousing, clutch, pressure plate, ect..., as we had to pull it and give it back to the person we got it from in order to get it for $300, it was messed up anyways.
The girl who drove the car before the junkyard got it had blown 2 or 3 motors and the cars only got 91,000 Miles on it, the 305 that was in it when we got had a thrown #4 rod bearing and still made 40 lbs of oil pressure.
What I want to know since my post went a little topsy turvy is highlighted in red.

Re: T5 help/confusion
I think a 3.4V6 will work but the gears will be very short. The 3.8 will not and neither will the stang as far as I know.
Re: T5 help/confusion
I'm sorry to inform you that you can not use any of the T5 your looking at.
the 4th gen V6 T5 shaft is .5 inches longer than a third gen. And I can't remeber
what or why the mustangs won't work but I know it won't. And if your planning
on building anykind of motor for you car like a 350 or that 377 a T5 will not hold up
to any abuse over 300 lbs of tq

So what would you recommend? I'm looking to turn it into an AutoX car and maybe some drifting but right now I have a TH350 with a shift kit built to take 750 HP plus a 300 Squeeze. Bought it off a friend of my dads. But my car motor will just have an aluminum intake, Thumpr Cam, headers, and a 600 CFM Holley plus my dad and I are going to do a lot port and polish work on it
So thats why the tranny was burnt up in it before? the 305 that was in it was out of a HD truck and had close to 330 Ft lbs plus the girl that drove it probably couldn't drive a standard, I'm learning my self. This will be my High School car as well I have the only T/A in my town everyone else has birds and rs camaros.

Re: T5 help/confusion
Well what I'd do is look for a T56 from a forth gen 93 to 96, I know they're a bit costly. over a grand for a good used one. but maybe you'll be luck and find one for cheap. And with the engine you want you should get great mpg to boot

Well I think I'll keep the auto for now and just work on the suspension, and then later on drop the ball for a T56, it'll cost more than what I've got in the car, but my dad might be able to get a few friends at a junkyard to keep an eye out for one
