Faint squeak from Pinion seal
Hello guy, I have a issue here that I'm hoping someone can help me with. I just had to replace my pinion oil seal in the rear end where the yoke of the drive shaft inserts into the rear end. After finishing I let the car down and was rolling it to get the scotches out from under the wheels and noticed a slight squeaking noise coming from that seal or something near it.
I only notice the noise when I roll the car forward and its pretty constant, but it is completely silent when I roll it backwards. I put gear oil on the rubber ring in that seal before installing it and everything went together smoothly so I'm confused to what could be the cause of this, or if it even perhaps has sqeaked like this all along and I never noticed.
I roll it by turning the rear tire by hand and it feels to be rolling smoothly both forward and back but when going forward it has this squeak, like a person squeaking their fingers across a clean piece of glass.
I am afraid to drive it until I find out something so all movement has been by hand with the car in neutral. Is it possible that this will clear up once the shaft has turned some more to spread that oil around or does it sound like I have trouble?
EDIT: Forgot to mention this is a 1991 Firebird with 5.0 engine and stock GM rear end.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks

Re: Faint squeak from Pinion seal
No one has any ideas? I have been asking around locally and most people said it would probably work itself out once its driven a bit. Thing is I'm afraid to drive it until I know for sure, I certainly don't want to damage something inside the rear end. I prefer to hear something from an expert on this site before I take the chance.
It seems really odd to me that it only squeeks rolling forward, but not backwards. I tried rolling it back and forth quite a few times to see if it would spread that oil around in there and perhaps lube what is squeeking, but no luck so far.
Hope someone can help me soon so I can get this thing running again and get it out of the center of my workshop.

Did you put a new crush sleeve in when you put it back together?? Or a solid spacer? or shim the crush sleeve and redo the crush??
Could be a dry Ujoint also.
