1985 Firebird--Rear End Swap?
Hi,
Not sure about the factory gears that came with the v6 model, but I think they are 2.77's. Wanting to know what would be the best way to upgrade the rear end? I have 700R4 -Metric tranny with OD. Is it best to replace the existing rear end or can you put in gears without replacing the entire rear end? Can't find any posi units complete on ebay or anywhere near me in Virginia.
Thanks for any help.

The 1985 2.8 V6 came with 3.42 gears. Most likely not post but it could be as it was an add on not a engine related thing. I would stick to the 3.42 ratio with a 700r4 and add a posi unit.
