Re: HELP DETERMINING STALL CONV. SPEED

True converter stall can only be found by using a transbrake. The best you could do is to do a brake stand and load up the converter as much as you can until the brakes can't hold you back or the tires start to spin. A flash stall test is your next option.

The converter stall speed is only a rated speed. How much it stalls depends on how much torque is put into it. The same converter behind 2 different engines will stall at different speeds.

The converter needs to be matched to the camshaft for best performance. For street/strip use, the converter stall speed should be around 500 rpm into the powerband. For full race it should be around 1000 rpm into the powerband.

When you look at a camshaft and the specs say 1800-6000 range, that means you need a converter with around 2300 rated stall speed for best performance.

Thanks man ! That was an extremely informative answer ! When I do the brake stand you simply mean locking my brakes (not e-brake) and giving it some love right , as if you wanted to burn out. Correct ?
