I have an 87 Iroc 305 tpi. I cannot get it to go into 5th gear, It used to but now it just will not go into it, is the tranny shot or is there anything i can check.

In what way does it "not go into 5th gear"?

when going on the highway if i try to shift into 5th gear when i push the clutch it just wont go ,Like 5th gear in not there anymore.so i have to come back to 4th gear.

Sounds like the 5th gear shift fork is broke.

I would not classify that as "tranny shot". Pretty simple fix really.

Any more info on this.So i would need to replace the 5th gearshift fork?
